This is not a Hippy commune.

I live in Stillwater Oklahoma in a Cohousing community.
Even though it is considered a senior community it is not assistive living. There very few residence of our Cohousing community that require special help. No inhouse nursing or physical therapy. Plus, we all do what we can do to maintain our facility and help each other. Some of us driving others to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, etc. Our facility consists of seven acres of lawn and wooded spaces with a creek running through it. Along with a common area. Common areas such as a common house with full commercial kitchen, dining area, guests rooms, Livingroom, TV viewing room, exercise and yoga area and a large DIY work shop. Plus, garages and car ports. All houses are arranged in an eight-home pod. Each home is individually owned and maintained. There are four home floor designs. From a 750 square foot to a 1500 square foot home. We do have a modest monthly HOA fee. Which includes cable TV, wi-fi, and a cable phone.

At Oakcreek Cohousing we are near a state university, medical center, a nearby lake and a three and a half mile walking trail and numerous eating establishments and big box retail and home supplies. Almost everything is within a ten-minute drive. The new performing arts center is just a few minutes away. The New York Phil and Garth Brooks were recently there.
Currently here at Oakcreek Cohousing, we have about a half dozen retired University professors, two former nurses, a meteorologist, two psychologists, a retired energy company executive, and several other retired professionals and business owners. And almost all have some kind of volunteer or hobby occupation.
We have monthly meetings and all decisions are made by consensus.
Oakcreek Cohousing is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Home of Oklahoma State University in northcentral Oklahoma. Just off Interstate-35 and state highway 51. Come and visit.

I come from a family who migrated from the parched red dirt Plaines of southern rural Oklahoma. Migrating to blue collar working class community of East Los Angeles. There is where I was born. I am Mr. Writermelon. I can only write what my grammar and spell checker allows. I am neither profound nor profane. Boy howdy! Send comment to: Mr.writermelon@gmail.com
