So we began to stir the pot.

Black History Month.
I grew up in one of the biggest melting pots on the American continent.  Los Angeles, California.  People of color which includes Asians, Hispanics, Europeans, Africans(in the broader sense),indigenous people, Middle Easterners, Catholics, Jews, protestants, Atheists, conservatives, liberals, poor, wealthy, professionals, and blue collar.  And anything else I left out.
Today I live in a small cohousing community in Oklahoma.  There is not one person of color except one light skin Caribbean.  I must admit I miss the cultural mix.  It’s somewhat boring and a bit uninteresting.  However I have learned to live with mostly people from various parts of this big country .  People from Hawaii to New York.  Many of whom who have retired from the local university.
But me, being a son of an Oklahoma dirt farmer who migrated in 1941 to California after the great dust bowl and depression, also have my story.
But back to Black History Month, I feel I have lived through some of the most interesting black history since slaves were brought from Africa as forced labor.
None the less, it was monumental history when President Obama was elected twice as President of the United States.  I hope it happens again.  God bless America.

I come from a family who migrated from the parched red dirt Plaines of southern rural Oklahoma. Migrating to blue collar working class community of East Los Angeles. There is where I was born.
