Some of the attractions at the Super Bowl.

posted by Chuck Ayers   Heard on the radio from Chicago. A twenty-something young woman was looking for a donor to give her two tickets to the Super Bowl which at the time was taking place in Atlanta a few years back.  In return for free advertising.  Advertising to be ‘airbrushed’ on the young lady’sContinue reading “Some of the attractions at the Super Bowl.”

Golf balls and rainbows.

The bluest skies ever with the whitest cotton puff clouds along with an occasional rainbow is what we moved to in 1972. And certainly, away from the smoky gray L A basin. So, we winged away to what some travelers call paradise. Honolulu is where we flew away to. Far away about 2500 miles fromContinue reading “Golf balls and rainbows.”

Just dribble and shoot

Two finals during the NBA. It was during the 1993 NBA playoff final with  Charles Barkley versus Michael Jordan.  Or rather the Chicago Bulls going up against the Phoenix Sun.  Two titans battling for the NBA championship.  All of this seen on a tiny TV affixed up high on the wall in a delivery roomContinue reading “Just dribble and shoot”

Look who’s waving at us guys.

Seen at the ball park. There were Wayne, Rich, Warren, and me. All headed to Dodger stadium Warren, the guy with connections had box seat tickets about 10 or 12 rows back from the expensive dugout seats behind Homeplate. Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks.

Peanuts from the sky. It was a balmy weekday evening and the Los Angeles Angels were playing at Dodger stadium. We had box seats just behind and a bit left of Homeplate. Temperature was about 60-degreess and the air was calm. Perfect for a springtime evening major league baseball game. Never the less, when theContinue reading “Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks.”

A man who gave the Dodgers a voice.

Now try to follow with me on this. Back in about 1958 something possessed my parents to buy a big blond stereo from Sears and put it in the Livingroom. A blond wood stereo with an array of different size speakers that a 14-year-old teen boy only could wish for. Previous we had only aContinue reading “A man who gave the Dodgers a voice.”

Call the bum out.

It was a really nice mild spring evening 1962. My friend Ron and I were at Dodger Stadium to watch an early season baseball game. What a beautiful ball park the Dodgers have. The outfield grass trimmed nice and even with a lush field of green. Dirt infield raked and smooth. All just right forContinue reading “Call the bum out.”
